At this meeting we will continue the project started last month with Sandi Boylan – the pin cushion and scissor fob . Please bring your kit to the meeting if you want the fob to match the holder. Sandi will have ribbon and beads, etc but no guarantee they will match.
Glenda asked me to remind you, if you haven’t already, to please pay your SAGA dues online. She needs you to give her your membership number. This is very important if we expect to receive a grant for our retreat.
The January meeting will be Wednesday, January 11 at the Hoover Library in Meeting Rooms A and B downstairs.
This month’s program will be presented by Sandi Boylan on the beaded ribbon fob – like she made for the Christmas gift exchange. The only thing you will need is embroidery scissors. I have LOTS of size 11 beads and several different ribbons. If you want to use or have your own special ribbon it should be between 7/8 inch and 1 -1/4 inch wide.Grograin or a tapestry ribbon work best. To make the chatelaine and pincushion you’ll need about 1/2 yard. We will just be working on the pincushion fob that attaches to the scissors. You’ll receive enough ribbon and and beads to complete the project for homework if you so desire. There is NO charge for the kit, you’re helping me clean out my sewing area, .
We will have a wee care workshop for the February meeting. More info to follow.

The regular October meeting will be Wednesday, October 12, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Theater Conference Room (downstairs) at the Hoover Public Library. This will be a “sit and sew” in order for us to finish our wee care gowns for the Children’s Hospital Christmas Tree which we will be decorating the first Sunday in November.
Please get your gowns together and let’s finish them as we will be meeting on Wednesday, October 26, at Glenda Horton’s house for a salad luncheon and getting the gowns ready to put on the tree.
Please read Glenda’s message below!
Hello Ladies,
Come join me for a fun filled day at my house, starting at 9 o’clock, Wednesday, October 26, so that we can prepare the Wee Care garments that we’ve all been working on this year for the Children’s Hospital Christmas tree. We need lots of helping hands to do what needs to be done so that the Wee Care Christmas Tree looks it’s best. There will be Wee Care garments to iron, bows to tie, ornaments that need wire, and no telling what else! We need everyone to pitch in to make this happen! Then, November 6th, at Children’s Hospital, we’ll have the fun of putting it all on the tree.
Please come and bring your completed Wee Care garments, a pair of scissors to curl ribbon and a salad to share. I’ll have coffee and muffins for breakfast and ice tea for our lunch drink.
I can’t wait to see you! It’s been a long hot summer of not seeing my friends as much as I’d like. We’ve got a lot to talk about!
See you on the 26th!
Glenda
