Since the days begin to cool and it is vital that you take advantage of climate change to make a few interesting inclusions in your wardrobe. To make your selection is the best, we bring you the latest trends for 2012 of the designers.

You will find that all are directed towards a modern and elegant woman, but neither wants to lose her coquetry. Helping models or colors, is the perfect balance to show off!

Male tendency

We have so much freedom, that men’s clothes are also a perfect choice and well-run, may even enhance our femininity, but will be hard to believe. It is the house Yves Saint Laurent which brings the fashion of the tuxedo. You only need a large dose of attitude!

A good accessory makes a difference, and red shoes or a clutch phenomenal. The result? An ultra sophisticated image. Tear up that cocktail that you have invited to this trend … If you want to look sexier, the choice is to use it with nothing underneath. However, in this case, you must be fully fit.

Dolce & Gabbana also makes us a proposal without a jacket and tie but can you imagine with this set? I worshiped the straps. Another option is to use bow tie instead of a long, take a chance and put color to your neck!

Long coats for this winter

This trend fascinates me because it looks very elegant and also helps styling. Winter saves us show those extra inches. One in black is basic because it will combine with everything. You can use either a casual look (jeans, for example) or formal (with a stunning dress).

But do not oppose other colors, of course neutrals are easier to mix, such as camel or gray, but you can dare with other colors if you have several in the closet.

If you are short , you have no reason to give up this fashion, however I recommend you not reach the floor, but just below the knee so it does not give you more volume.

Color total

And if you thought the bright colors were left in the summer, you’re totally wrong. In winter, you see, only that it is your whole look screams a single color. The winners: klein blue, red (or orange) and gray.

Red always goes well with the camel in the accessories. Furthermore, your outfits do not be afraid to combine different shades. Will achieve an interesting effect and quite striking.

Winter Patterns

Do not run away to the prints this winter, will give life to your look. You have different options, starting with python print I’m sure you’ll see everywhere: on shirts, coats, skirts, dresses and of course, bags and shoes.

The geometric designs also set the pace. Perhaps you remember a little 60′s and psychedelic style.

And they can not keep up the flowers, follow us! Forget thinking that are present only in spring and summer. You’ll feel ultra feminine, but without losing touch of sophistication.

Seventies back

If you have baggy pants, time to remove them from the bottom of the drawer. Perfect if you are waist high, you can go with a belt. Notice the contrast of color and style with a blend jersey … very modern!

And in its most extreme in jeans also …

The waist up in a pencil skirt is also with this style that looks pretty glamorous. Note that it is very vivid colors and detail of the hat (perhaps encourage you to use one).

Prints, vibrant colors, the fashion of the seventies again, long coats or an all-male outfit … your choices are quite diverse. Choose those that go over with you. Also you can make a mix of some, for example, take a long coat or mix red mouthed trousers with a blouse in Python.

Yesterday I started my day by mixing up the Kool-Aid and getting some roving set to dying in the sun. The forecast was for an 80+ degree day with little wind so I set to it and by mid morning had a batch of dye sitting on the roof of the car (out of the reach of marauding animals) and soaking up the sun for heat.

By the time I had it all drying in the evening I had a good batch of dyed roving I hope to take with me to the Grand Canyon with the easily packed sidekick for late evening around the campfire spinning.

I think the lovely cantaloupe kettle dyed looking stuff that the Peach Mango flavor produced is my favorite at this time.

I also have a batch of cowls for Christmas knitting done and blocked.

And more to come unfortunately. I’m about tired of coming up with ideas for these, but by far of these my favorite at this time is the tri-colored linen stitch one I blocked last night.

Looks like fancy color work, right?

Nope, just the way the color changes lined up with the stitches done in the round in a linen stitch caused this effect. And even better is the thickness. All four are made with Berocco Ultra Alpaca so they are wonderfully warm for the necks of Wyomingites, several which are ranchers. The lacy ones aren’t going to the ranchers.

I found today as I work on a spiral ribbed cowl, that I’m tired of cowls. In fact, I’m sick of them for at least a few days. So when Andrea and another yarn store customer started discussing the Ilene bag, i got sucked in. You see, I’ve been looking at starting a market bag from three skeins of hemp I have downstairs in a rather unattractive color. I had an idea brewing about how to make this thing when this pattern was put in front of me and besides a few changes I would make (and did) it was exactly what I wanted! So, I had them print me up a copy off ravelry (it’s free, titled Ilene Bag) and bought some Classic Elite: Firefly and hacked into it tonight.

From AKQGuy

So far, so good. I wanted a firmer knit so am working only on the smaller sized needle, but added more stitches tot he bottom of the bag to account for the size difference. I also picked up a couple additional stitches along the floor of the bag’s edge to add decrease tot he corner points to give some additional structure. We’ll see what more I insist on doing, but I’m happy with it at this time. And when I say that I did these changes, it by no means is meant to say there is a lacking to this pattern. It’s a lovely pattern and fine just the way it is. I just knit like I cook, patterns and recipes are more like guidelines that sure and true directions. I always have to play with things and make it mine, and when it all goes to hell because I deviated from the tried and true method, it should in no way reflect poorly on the designer who gave me a perfectly good pattern. It reflects all upon my insistence that it could be better fitted to my wants.

Anyway, me and the kids are heading to bed so I can go play at work tomorrow night, you all have a great week, and keep knitting/crocheting/macrame’ing/playing with fiber in all ways wonderful.

G’Night,
The yarn it calls for is Morehouse Merino Bulky (100% Merino wool) that knits at 100sts and 18 rows = 4″ in stockinette stitch. That particular yarn is .50 or so. I need 8 or 9 skeins of it! Ouch. I know I’m worth it…aren’t we all…but if I could get a good quality yarn that is a bit less expensive, that would be great. I know that Lion Brand has skeins that are about and I have used that, but I was wondering if you guys had any experience with heavy yarns that you would recommend. Knit Picks doesn’t have that size. The folks at Webs has a decent collection and a wide range of prices. Any suggestions?
Attached is the sweater I am going to make.

Ah Mother’s Day, what a bittersweet holiday this is. If we still have our moms with us, do we love and forgive, and if we have lost our moms do we remember with joy and happiness?

My mom passed in 1998 and each year I have struggled less and less with this decision. I now can easily go right to the joy and happiness of her ever-present memories and not focus too much on the loss and separation that death tries to pin our relationship.

Montage of Mom I put together with “Mood Boards” on my iPad

Often since starting this blog in 2005 I have awoken on Mother’s Day and written some sort of tribute to my mom. A way to celebrate Mother’s Day without brunch or flowers. I went back and read a few of them just now, because I thought it would inspire me to write another one today.

But instead, the one from 2007 (nine years after her passing and long before The Crochet Dude had become successful) has just struck me wordless. I can’t think of a way to say it any differently in this moment, so I am going to go ahead and repost it here, it still expresses exactly how I feel:

Mother’s Day 2007

I’ve never been able to fully understand how deeply my mom had touched me as I was growing up. Before she passed away I had never thought that any one person could ever be so important in my life. She raised me to take chances, to listen to the still small voice that is guiding each of us, to look for the door that is opening instead of focusing on the one that is closing. She also taught me that life unfolds and that I am responsible for doing what is right on every occasion, but that I shouldn’t beat myself up for each mistake along the way. If there are any good qualities in this dude, I learned them from my mom.

Mom was the best at “just being there”. She was ALWAYS there even after going out on my own, she was always just a phone call away. “How do I boil an egg?”; “Will bleach hurt my blue jeans?”; “Will my broken heart mend?”. And she was there to patiently comfort, instruct, encourage (and many times to rebuke).

One of her favorite sayings was “I won’t take credit for your successes if you don’t blame me for your failures”. She was humble that way, never going around bragging about her kids, but always filled with pride for each and every accomplishment we were making on our own.

Most of all she taught me to be gentle – because everything in this world is fragile from friendship to work to hugging your mother. It all should be held gently and cared for as precious.

Don’t you love her handwriting? She was a lefty.

There are two things that represent the years I was blessed with Mom’s presence: coffee and crochet.

She taught me to crochet when I was five years old and I took to it quickly. I mostly just used up her odd scraps of skeins and made a bazillion potholders. My abilities grew and we helped each other figure out some of the most complex crochet designs I had seen even to this day. And during the period when she went through some major challenges herself I sat with her and we crocheted and I listened as she worked things out.

Even though Mom didn’t finish high school or have a “career” she worked hard to make sure that all her kids had the essentials like food and clothes. But the one thing she could afford was to go for coffee with her sister in our little town. As a young boy I would go along of course and pretend that I was reading a book but I was really listening to my aunt talk about her husband, and how hard work was that day, and mom would look so happy and safe there. As I grew into a teen we would go for coffee just her and I and we would talk about how hard school was that day, and mom would look so happy and safe. All was well as long as the bottomless 25 cent cup of coffee was in front of us.

Now I do know how deeply Mom touched me growing up. Her passing has left a large hole in my heart that I’m convinced even all these years later, will never be filled again. When I look into the emptiness there, the quiet void where once there was a comforting voice and strict admonition I can start to smile now because I’m filling it with one of the biggest gifts she ever gave me: crochet. And I hope she would be proud.

Mom and I when she came to visit me in Mexico, circa 1994
