BSAGA will meet on Wednesday, July 13, at Hoover Public Library in Meeting Rooms A and B downstairs at 9:30 a.m. This meeting will be a “sit and sew.” Bring whatever project you are working on or need help with and enjoy the fellowship. Don’t forget to bring your “show and tell” project.
In August our meeting will be a prequel to the June meeting when Charlotte showed us how to construct a bishop before smocking. This will be a “hands on” class. Details to follow later!
See you on the 13th and don’t forget to bring a friend!

April, a kindly blog reader, came up with some clever notations to the pattern that Emme posted of her winning July Giveaway Contest Cute Hat. Emme has reviewed these ‘corrections’ and approved posting them. So, here they are. If anyone else has comments or corrections, please feel free to post below. NOTE that even seasoned, many-times-published crochet designers have to publish errata for their patterns. Thanks, April!
**** Here‘s a link to Emme’s originally posted pattern. ****
ok here are the corrections the “I” hook was more for an adult size but you can change the hook 1 smaller and it is more a child size.
next rnd 1 and 2 were fine but rnd 3 starts to get wavy so here is the correction
rnd 3, ch2,*1hdc in next hdc, 2hdc in next hdc*(24hdc)
rnd 4, ch2,*1hdc in next 2hdc, 2hdc in next hdc*(32hdc)
rnd 5, ch2, *1hdc in next 3hdc, 2hdc in next hdc*(40hdc)
rnd 6, ch2,*1hdc in next 4hdc, 2hdc in next hdc*(48hdc)
rnd 7, ch2, *1hdc in next 5 hdc, 2hdc in next hdc*(56hdc)
rnd 8 there’s no corrections
rnd 8-12, ch2, 1hdc around(56hdc)
rnd 13-16 no corrections
brim: rnd 17 in pink 1hdc around front loops only
rnd 18, ch2 *1hdc in next hdc, 2hdc in next*
rnd 19, ch2 *1hdc in next 2hdc, 2 hdc in next*
edging: no corrections
flowers are fine.
the edging was still alittle off when i did it but it was much improved from what it was.

Do you even have to ask if we missed your posts (of COURSE we did!)?
I am really liking the new pattern line, it has a nice variety to it. The Say What? pattern even has a bit of snarky attitude to it, which is right up my alley!

HERE’S THE FREE PATTERN that Emmeline created to win the July CrochetGossip Giveaway Contest!
The hook I used was ‘I’ as suggested on the yarn label. It was 4ply Acrylic Worsted weight yarn by Red heart (7 oz skeins). NOTE: This pattern is untested. Please email if you run into problems.
Colors-
1. Lt. Pink -1/2 skein approx
2. Brown -1/4 skein approx
3. White -1/4 skein approx
Starting with color #1 make a magic circle with 8 hdc(half double crochet) in the circle. slip stitch to join.
In the next round make 2 hdc in each hdc from round 1. slip stitch to join.
Continue in the same way for the next 5 rounds.
After finishing the 7th round’s slip stitch start the new row. make 1 hdc in each hdc but only on the the inner string. (I didn’t use both strands – see illustration below) slip stitch to join.
In the next round rotate 1 hdc then 2 hdc in each hdc for the entire round. slip stitch to join.
Next round make 1 hdc in each hdc for the next 3 rounds, slip stitching to join each time. Finish off, sewing in ends.
Next round will be in white. Same as before 1 hdc in each hdc for one round. slip stitching to join.
Next 2 rounds will be in brown. Same as before 1 hdc in each hdc for both rounds. slip stiching to join. Finish off, sewing in ends.
Next round will be in white again. Same as before 1 hdc in each hdc for one round. slip stitching to join. Finish off, sewing in ends.
Starting the next round in pink make 2 hdc in each hdc until the brim is the size desired. (I did 3) slip stitch to join.
The edging was created by sc(single crochet), chain 3, skip 1 hdc, attach with single crochet, chain 3… repeat until done. Finish off, sewing in ends.
Flowers
I loosely followed a crochet pansy pattern I found on YouTube by TJW1963. I added an extra petal to the larger pink flower.

Here it is, I’m so excited to unveil the first purse pattern to be included in the 2010 Purse Pattern of the Month club that is starting this month!!
The bag measures 21″ at the base and 15″ tall (without the handles). I am so happy with how it turned out and i’m hoping the club subscribers are too. There is still room for you if you want to join in on the fun!!
Here’s how the club works:
Sign ups will be limited, patterns will begin to arrive in July 2010. You will receive a printed never before seen crochet purse pattern each month for a year for a one time payment of 0 (I don’t have the technology to process monthly payments, sorry). The patterns will be signed and numbered and they will be retired at the end of each month. You will never see them published anywhere else. And hey, you never know when some bonus pattern(s) will be thrown in sometime during the year just for fun!
There is still room to sign up, click here:

Emmy created this cutie

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=697744&l=33ee29ef8e&id=1153313116
that I fell in love with. Although not that many people entered this contest, I found all of the caps to be creative and attractive, from the baby cloche to the Green Monster!
Emmy, please email me with your snail mail info so I can get your prize in the mail to you.
