October Giveaway – A Book You Can’t Buy In The U.S.!

in Category Crochet | Tags: ,,,,

Thata Pang is one of my favorite crochet designers.  Her work is so colorful and fresh that I’m am always drawn to it.  She gifted me two copies of this book, so I’m going to share one copy with my readers.  If you are not yet familiar with Thata’s work, you can check out her wonderful designs on one of her websites here or here or on Ravelry here .

Don’t fear that you won’t be able to recreate the designs in this book because the patterns are not written in English.  Thata has included step by step detailed charts that you’ll whip up the designs in no time.

So, how do you win this book?  Visit one of the three sites above that I’ve linked to see Thata’s designs and post a link to your favorite design in the comments section below.  Be sure to include your zip code for identification purposes.  One entry per person.  Winner will be determined by random drawing at the conclusion of the Giveaway period.  This one will run from today through Midnight (CDT) October 31, 2012.

Have fun looking!!

October Meeting

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 2:27 pm, by Admin
in Category Smocking | Tags: ,

The regular October meeting will be Wednesday, October 12, from 9:30 to  11:00 a.m. in the Theater Conference Room (downstairs) at the Hoover Public Library.  This will be a “sit and sew” in order for us to finish our wee care gowns for the Children’s Hospital Christmas Tree which we will be decorating the first Sunday in November.

Please get your gowns together and let’s finish them as we will be meeting on Wednesday, October 26, at Glenda Horton’s house for a salad luncheon and getting the gowns ready to put on the tree.

Please read Glenda’s message below!

Hello Ladies,

Come join me for a fun  filled day at my house, starting at 9 o’clock, Wednesday, October  26, so that we can prepare the Wee Care garments that we’ve all  been working on this year for the Children’s Hospital Christmas  tree.  We need lots of helping hands to do what needs to be  done so that the Wee Care Christmas Tree looks it’s best. There will  be Wee Care garments to iron, bows to tie, ornaments that need wire, and no  telling what else!  We need everyone to pitch in to make this  happen!  Then, November 6th, at Children’s Hospital, we’ll have the fun  of putting it all on the tree.

Please come and bring your  completed Wee Care garments, a pair of scissors to curl ribbon and a salad  to share.   I’ll have coffee and muffins for breakfast and ice tea for  our lunch drink.

I can’t wait to see you!   It’s been a long hot summer of not seeing my friends as much as I’d like.   We’ve got a lot to talk about!

      See you on  the 26th!

Glenda

Big Reveal – October Purse

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 4:32 am, by Admin
in Category Crochet | Tags: ,,

I am enjoying the purse pattern of the month club about a thousand times more than I even thought I would. The intrigue of finding just the right fiber, accessories, coming up with just the right design idea is like the dream job. I love this project each month and am eager to get started on November’s!

Until then let me present to you October 2010 – a clutch just in time for the holidays!

Oversized sequins add glitz and kitsch to this little clutch – just in time for the holiday party season! The strappy handle is inspired by clutches on the Paris runway this season. Make one to match your outfit for each party this year!

Here’s how the club works:
  • Sign ups will be limited.
  • You will receive a printed never before seen crochet purse pattern each month for a year for a one time payment of 0 (I don’t have the technology to process monthly payments, sorry).
  • The patterns will be signed and numbered and they will be retired at the end of each month.  You will never see them published anywhere else.
  • And hey, you never know when some bonus pattern(s) will be thrown in sometime during the year just for fun!
  • When you sign up you will receive all the patterns that have come out already this season as well.

There is still room to sign up, click here:
