Mint Green Skirt

Posted on October 9, 2012 at 7:17 am, by Admin
in Category Embroidery | Tags: ,,

The mint green arrived, and was captivated. I can not deny that was the color of the year, as far as clothing, accessories and even decor is concerned. That kind of green water course also binds to the tendency of the pastel.
A garment to feel very feminine and of course very fashionable is mint green skirt. They come in a variety of models (the asymmetric is what is causing a stir) and the combinations you can achieve are endless. I’ll show some style to your look!

Asymmetric skirt mint green

The asymmetrical skirts did not convince me much at first, but I have to confess that after seeing them on the runways loved. In prints, neutral colors, very long or short, are a “must” for the season. What better to show off the color that we won?
Fabrics like chiffon (skirt as pictured) or gauze are good because they have a nice drop and give you a great feeling of lightness and freedom. Perfect if you carry a print blouse!
With black is always good, especially if it’s a night out. Wear it with stilettos and you’ll look.

Skirt mint cakes

The pastel trend may not have gone unnoticed by you. It is a soft style, youthful and very fresh which also wants to enhance the feminine delicacy, so go one day and take a look fully pie.
Your mint green skirt with a blouse will be perfect cream if you want to look a little more formal. Do you cheer for mint colored shoes too? You can choose any color pie (cream, pink, blue) and choose all other accessories in that color.

Playing with greens

An alternative that I love, and that makes me think of a very dark look, is the mixture of different shades of green, turquoise and even reaching here. Notice the game even with the collar.
The nude shoes go perfectly with a skirt in mint green.

Mint green skirt XL

Do not wear a miniskirt provokes you by now? The XL version, will fascinate you. I suggest a pleated skirt that is also very fashionable. Wear it with sandals camel or nude color. No problem if such flats because skirts help elongate the legs.
You can go for a walk around town with it, or go to the movies. Choose an accessory (like the bag pictured) in a contrasting color to lift the look. Of course it can also be short and pleated …

Mint green skirt tube

With wishes to see very sophisticated but with a hint of sweetness? This outfit is what you want. This mint colored skirt broderie tube with a simple white blouse trend. The platform silver sandals are perfect if you want to excel.
Although you can also combine it with a strong color. The purple is an ideal addition to show your fashion sense. Search textures and experiment a little. Remember that the laces are gaining ground in dresses and skirts.

Strapless blouse with skirt

Two sensual and feminine clothes are coming together in the garb of the image to suggest a way you can give your appearance a very attractive spin if you have not get used often.
The strapless blouses plus attractive, it is very comfortable for hot seasons: frees your arms and shoulders, besides having a straight neckline that is daring even. Other blouses strapless own figure 8, so that fits the shape of the breast, as is the case of the blouse in the photograph.
When this first part is smooth, it is favorable that let us add a patterned skirt, to encourage the appearance and break the monotony, especially if it’s a color as white.
If the strapless bodice is ampona or large, is better than the skirt is fitted, to achieve a balance that stylize the figure. On the contrary, it should be accompanied with a blouse skirts elastic volumetric or flight.

As long work boots on to make you look more casual, even with older age, while flat shoes screened youth and mobility.

Prairie Style, 1978: Butterick 6038, McCall’s 5948, and dirndl skirt

Posted on August 22, 2011 at 11:05 am, by Admin
in Category Sewing | Tags: ,,,,,,,,

Clearinghouse post on 1970′s prairie style:

The first bit is Butterick 6038 (1978 or 1979), a casual blouse with a split neck, gathered front, collar, and side ties at the waist. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this but I think it’s growing on me. I’m notoriously fussy about fit and I was sort of afraid this just said, “boxy!”, and possibly, “maternity!”, but I don’t really think now that it’s that bad (and I’m trying to become less picky about fit). If I make it again, I’ll trim down the tops of the sleeve caps, both to avoid having to gather them so much and to make the shoulder fit a little less awkward.

The fabric is Kona cotton in “Snow” which, ironically, is off-white. It’s about the color of unbleached muslin but without the natural brown flecks (I wanted to use muslin but couldn’t find any that was opaque enough to look decent). It’s kind of stiff but it did behave beautifully, without any stretching or distortion.

6038 also looks cute with jeans.

I have no idea why I’m not smiling.

Here it is with an improvised dirndl skirt, which is not specifically retro but also not really not retro. This one was made of two yards of brown Indienne-style calico and uses this awesome half-elastic waistband tutorial.

I’m from Texas; I’m allowed to wear boots with everything. If it’s not already in our state Constitution, it should be.

Here’s 6038 again, but with McCall’s 5948 (1978), which is full-blown Seventies prairie chic and not ashamed to say so.

The waist ties.

This pattern didn’t include pockets, and I am morally opposed to clothing that doesn’t have pockets, so I added some small patch pockets to the front, since the side inserts made side-seam pockets awkward.

Pleated full skirt

Posted on July 29, 2011 at 2:51 pm, by Admin
in Category Sewing | Tags: ,,

Remember this skirt? Well, without further ado:
Tada!! I finally got around to making it.
Fabric: Striped cotton poplin from Spotlight, .50/metre.
Pattern: Tucked full skirt from Handmade magazine
Year: 1988
Notions: Zipper from op-shop, .25
Total cost: ~
Changes made: I decided to only do 2 tucks on the front panel instead of 5, although I’m sure it would look nicer with more, as well! It was just that for some reason I imagined that it had a flatter front than the instructions suggested.
Changes I should have made: No major ones! Maybe I would make the waist not as high the next time, but I like the empire style it creates.
I am quite happy with how it turned out in general, and while I am intending on wearing it with tights and boots for the remainder of winter, I am looking forward to wearing it this coming spring. Oh, yes, don’t let the pictures deceive you, it is still pretty cold here in Melbourne! So I will leave you with a more realistic idea of how I will be wearing the skirt in the coming weeks:
